Before you write you need to organise your ideas – what goes where.
You don’t have a lot of time to do this in an exam – but following some basic concepts, choosing your preferred approach before the exam – means you can spend 5 minutes planning out your ideas.
Write your plan at the top of the page so you can return to it if you
loose track of where you are …
5 minutes spent out of an hour … best spent 5 minutes of all!

How to Plan
We will be practicing this in class – but here are some templates and an overview to use when you are practising on your own.
Understanding the command terms – the terms (sometimes phrases) that tell you what to do – like ‘explain’, ‘discuss’ or ‘to what extent’ – is just as relevant to your planning as it is for analysing the question. Don’t forget the fantastic glossary of command terms on the VCAA website – download it and use it when analysing questions!
